The Mausoleum of Sultan Moulay Ismail, who made the city his capital in the 17th century. Meknes is considered one of the most historical cities in Morocco due to all the grand historical monuments and the stories behind their creation. Then, you will be en route to Volubilis, a partly excavated Berber and Roman city in Morocco built on a shallow slope below the Zerhoun mountain and commonly considered as the ancient capital of the kingdom of Mauretania. The area around Volubilis has been inhabited at least since the late Atlantic Neolithic. 5,000 years ago archaeological excavations at the site have found Neolithic pottery of design comparable to pieces found in Iberia. By the third century BC, the Phoenicians had a presence there, as evidenced by the remains of a temple to the Punic god Baal and remnants of pottery and stones inscribed in the Phoenician language.
Wake up to the morning bustle of Fez’s medina, the old town. Your guide meets you after breakfast and soon you venture into the city to experience impressions of the past in modern-day life. You will be amazed by this Moroccan city often referred to as the country’s cultural capital, it’s primarily known for its El Bali walled medina, and for its important impact on the history of Morocco. We came to Morocco with some ideas in mind of what we wanted to do but no reservations to tours/attractions. With that being said Sanae came to the rescue! We told her some of our ideas and she gave us recommendations to a trek into the Sahara for a camping excursion which turned out to be a once in a lifetime experience! It was peaceful and magical. Sanae was real and gave us her honest opinions which made things even better....thank you! We totally recommend Absolute Morocco!
